In New Middletown, Portman Visits Personal Protected, Company Highlights Innovative New Product and

Rob Portman | Press Release

NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH – Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) visited Personal Protected, a company that created and supplies the Quad-Sink high volume, all touchless, multi-user handwashing stations which are a long-term solution to an immediate and ongoing need. During his visit, he met with company leadership, employees, and toured the facility.

Portman and the company’s leadership discussed their 50-year history as a manufacturer and employer in the Mahoning Valley, the innovation that kept the doors open along with the importance in receiving the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan. The company leaders expressed appreciation for the PPP loan that was made possible thanks to the bipartisan CARES Act, which Senator Portman supported and was signed into law by former President Trump. Receiving the PPP loan allowed Personal Protected to avoid layoffs, retain employees, and keep active production as demand has bounced back.

“I had a great visit with the leadership and employees at Personal Protected. What they are producing is absolutely critical as we continue to emerge from this pandemic. I was pleased to hear directly from their leadership team about how they used a PPP loan to avoid major layoffs and help keep workers on payroll during this unprecedented time,” said Portman. “One of the big goals of the CARES Act was to ensure that our businesses can stay afloat during the coronavirus pandemic. Personal Protected’s success is proof that the PPP helped employers keep their doors open. Beyond the pandemic, the American-made products they offer are terrific solutions for large gatherings, sporting events, and more – ultimately bettering the well-being of everyone.”

“It is great to have Senator Portman visit and be genuinely interested in how our company made it through last year’s pandemic. When we lost 100% of our business due to the nationwide shutdown it was a dire situation. The PPP forgivable loan helped us through the interim as we developed our Quad-Sink hand wash station as a solution to help get people together again safely. Senator Portman was a champion for the paycheck protection program and it was a contributing factor to our company keeping stability for our employees,” said Holly Swartz, Vice President, Personal Protected LLC.
