Personal Protected Wins Prestigious Innovation Award
NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH, May 17, 2021 – A local manufacturing company, Personal Protected in New Middletown was awarded the prestigious Innovation award by the State of Ohio. The award was presented to Jeff and Holly Swartz, company owners.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by the State of Ohio for our innovation during the pandemic,” said Holly Swartz. “We saw the need for a product that could help get businesses open and people feeling safe again, so we designed and built it. Our mission is to create a healthy humanity, and we know that starts with healthy communities.”
Jeff and Holly Swartz own and operate Hitch-Hiker manufacturing. Their company has designed, manufactured and sold high-end concession trailers for more than 50 years. When the pandemic hit, Jeff designed a product that he knew could help keep people safe and instill confidence.
That product is the Quad-Sink, a fully mobile, four-person touchless handwashing station that includes side barriers for social distancing. The units are built for high volume and high speed. Each unit accommodates 120 Individual 20 Second Hand Washes in 10 Minutes and 720 Individual 20-second hand washes per hour. The unit offers a most impressive 6,000 individual uses before needing refills.
The units got such praise and generated such interest that a new division of the company was formed, Personal Protected, LLC. Now, in addition to custom concession trailers, the company has dedicated production lines for the Quad-Sink. Currently, these units are already in use in schools, on university campuses, in government buildings, community centers and event facilities.
The Quad-Sink is made here in Ohio from primarily U.S. materials in Personal Protected’s production facility in New Middletown. The company is family-owned and operated, and the Swartzes’ two children are the third generation to be involved in the business.
Personal Protected is a division of Hitch-Hiker Manufacturing, Inc. In business for more than 50 years, this family-owned company designs and manufactures concession trailers and high-volume mobile hand washing stations for the entertainment and event industries. With a focus on innovation and quality, this family business is in the business of serving large crowds. Everything is made in the USA in their one-stop production facility in northeast Ohio.
